Investigative Managers

Jorge Miyar served 28 years with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) as a Special Agent and Supervisory Special Agent in Miami, Florida and Washington D.C. Throughout his career, Mr. Miyar led several multi-agency Task Forces and exhibited extensive experience in conducting complex, high profile investigations in a myriad of areas to include: International Drug Cartel cases, money laundering, cargo theft, crimes on Native American Reservations, violent crime, Eurasian Organized Crime and International Counterterrorism. Additionally, Mr. Miyar deployed and operated in volatile areas such as Iraq, Colombia and Mexico and has conducted long term investigations throughout South America, Central America and the Caribbean. Mr. Miyar was the Operations Supervisor in Baghdad, Iraq in 2004 and was responsible for organizing, approving and participating in all movements outside the “safe zone.”

Mr. Miyar conducted investigations regarding homicides of U.S. citizens, bombing investigations and interviews of High Value Detainees. Mr. Miyar had 15 years experience in the FBI SWAT program and trained and worked with U.S. Special Forces from the Navy, Army and Marine Corps. In addition to his investigative and managerial skills, Mr. Miyar possesses expertise in active shooter scenarios, executive protection, crisis management and sensitive undercover operations. Mr. Miyar is a fluent Spanish speaker.

Prior to joining the FBI in 1987, Mr. Miyar was a sworn State Police Officer for the Florida Wildlife Conservation Commission. Mr. Miyar attended Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and Anthropology from Florida International University in Miami, Florida.

Manny Suarez served for more than 24 years with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) as a Special Agent and Supervisory Special Agent in two field offices and at the Critical Incident Response Group (CIRG), FBI Headquarters. Mr. Suarez managed criminal investigations in the following areas: violent crime, white collar/economic crimes, domestic and international kidnappings, homicides, money laundering, evidence recovery and the deployment of undercover and technical assets. During his tenure at CIRG, Mr. Suarez supervised and trained 40 elite hostage negotiators (FBI CINT Agents) who deployed world-wide. Mr. Suarez is a fluent Spanish speaker and during his law enforcement career, Mr. Suarez operationally deployed to over 20 countries on 5 different continents.

After retiring from the FBI, Mr. Suarez worked as an advisor to the U.S. Army and the Afghan National Directorate of Security, in Kandahar, Afghanistan. Subsequently, he took his talents to Africa providing investigative and operational support at the national governmental/ministerial level.

Prior to starting his law enforcement career with the FBI in 1988, Mr. Suarez worked in the financial market in commercial banks and investment houses. Mr. Suarez earned his Bachelor of Science in Economics and Finance from Barry University and did post-graduate work in the area of International Trade. Mr. Suarez is a current member of the Florida Association of Licensed Investigators.

William K. Hekel  served for more than twenty-one years with the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) as a Special Agent in both the New York and Miami Divisions. Mr. Hekel has extensive experience in leading complex criminal investigations resulting in successful prosecutions involving organized crime, racketeering, violent crime, homicide, extortion, money laundering,  drug trafficking, white collar crime, fraud, and counter-terrorism.   Mr. Hekel’s reputation earned him a collateral duty participating in the hiring process for Special Agent applicants.  His years of leading complex cases and demonstrating the ability to handle crisis situations were rewarded by being promoted to Supervisory Special Agent in 2012. Mr. Hekel managed the Surveillance/Aviation Squad and the Organized Crime Task Force in the Miami Division.  

After retiring from the FBI in 2016, Mr. Hekel  accepted a position with a large insurance company in the Special Investigations Unit where he investigated cases of automobile insurance fraud. Mr. Hekel has held credentials as an Investigator contracted by Federal Agencies to investigate individuals seeking clearance for positions of public trust.

Prior to joining the FBI, Mr. Hekel FarmaciaItalia 24 served in New York City as a Special Agent with the Immigration and Naturalization Service, (INS) where he conducted complex investigations of document fraud, marriage fraud, human trafficking,  employers sanctions, and deportation eligibility of convicted felons.  Mr. Hekel earned a Bachelors of Science degree from the University of Scranton, PA.

James T. Lewis is a 25-year veteran of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).  From 1997 to 2014, Mr. Lewis primarily investigated Violent Crime matters and Crimes Against Children violations.  He was awarded the Federal Law Enforcement Officer of the Year in the State of Florida for developing and implementing the FBI’s first Internet Safety program for children.  He was the recipient of the 2008 National Center for Missing and Exploited Children award for his work dismantling a child exploitation network and the subsequent rescue of twelve children.  Mr. Lewis also received the United States Attorney General Missing Children award for his investigation of a multi-state child exploitation ring. During his time with the FBI, he was assigned to both a Cargo Theft Task Force and the largest Public Corruption Task Force in the FBI. 

In 2014, Mr. Lewis was promoted to Supervisory Special Agent (SSA) of the Miami Division’s Violent Crimes Against Children squad where he led multiple agents and detectives investigating cases of child exploitation, human trafficking, and missing/abducted children.  He was selected as Team Leader for the FBI’s national Child Abduction Rapid Deployment (CARD) team where he successfully managed multiple high-stress, time-sensitive investigations across the country.  From 2018 until 2021, Mr. Lewis served as SSA for the Miami Division’s Violent Crime/Fugitive Task Force where he directed high-risk operations and investigations involving kidnappings, homicides, and robberies.

Prior to entering on board as a Special Agent for the FBI, Mr. Lewis served as a Fairfax County, Virginia Police Officer for six years.  He holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Scranton (PA) and a Master’s degree in Forensic Sciences (MFS) from George Washington University.  Mr. Lewis is a 2017 graduate of the FBI’s prestigious National Academy, where he trained with law enforcement personnel from around the United States and several foreign countries.
